Japanese tourist sinks in Crystal Bay Nusa Penida

Crystal Bay on the island of Nusa Penida, Bali is known as a diving area, a quieter area compared to some other submarine areas that are around the island of Nusa Penida, Klungkung, Bali.

There are several diving area on the island, for example Toya Pakeh, Malibu Point, Batu Lumbung (Manta Point), Batu Meling, Penida Bay, and certainly Crystal Bay.

Nusa Penida Island which is an island-wide bird sanctuary is the largest of three islands nearby, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan which is off the south eastern coast of Bali. Separated by Badung Strait and the southern island of Bali.

For diving sports fans, this island is familiar to them, given the variety of dive sites with different characteristics. Crystal Bay as stated above are preferred by novice divers as a training ground, given the flow of the waters above it calmer than the other diving points.

Unlucky day for Ai Tanaka, 34, Sunday, August 26, 2012 at around 08.30 local time leave together using two motor boats with 13 Malaysian travelers from Padang Bai harbor towards the dive location in Crystal Bay.

Atmosphere was normal and no visible signs of strange when they start at around 13:00 local time diving together accompanied by 3 instructors, but suddenly when diving takes place, she separated from her dive group and did not surface when diving completed.

Do not know what's really going on in the depths of the water, the flow seemed normal, most likely something bothering her and panic swept through her. Buoyancy Compensator Device (BCD) instruments it uses are still intact, as well as the tube is still intact.

Rescue team (SAR Team - Basarnas) assisted by a number of diving operators to help the search and found her dead the next day, Monday, August 28, 2012 at 17:45 local time at a depth of 43 meters around the dive spots by MM Dive operator.

Her body was immediately evacuated from the seabed and be taken to General Hospital Sanglah, Denpasar.
